LPKF NovaPrint

Breakthrough in Glass Printing

The LPKF NovaPrint is the first industrial printing system with Laser Transfer Printing (LTP) technology for glass printing. This innovation transfers printing ink to glass in a non-contact process using laser pulses – without screens or long setup times and with minimal ink losses. For manufacturers in the automotive and architectural segments this means: Maximum design scope plus reduced costs Even complex patterns and custom designs can be realized with maximum precision – ideal for small batches and customer-specific applications.

Discover the Future of Glass Printing

LPKF NovaPrint – the Perfect Solution for Digital Glass Printing

The LPKF NovaPrint was specially developed for the printing of various types of glass and is ideal for applications in the transportation and automotive sectors and for architectural glass elements.

The centerpiece of the system is a nozzleless digital print head based on the innovative laser transfer printing technology. With a print area of 2 × 3 m² and a printing speed of 250 mm/s, the LPKF NovaPrint offers maximum productivity. The integrated optical glass detection system identifies any glass format and positions the print layout exactly on the glass substrate.

This technology allows for unprecedented precision and flexibility in realizing complex designs – from fine lines to full-surface printing for buses, trains, facade elements or vehicle windshields.

Digital Glass Printing Made Easy with PrintMaster

LPKF PrintMaster was specifically developed to meet the needs of customers in the industrial printing segment. The print data can be easily imported or created using the wide range of CAD functions. LPKF PrintMaster is easy to use and harmonizes perfectly with the machine hardware.

LPKF PrintMaster Edit – Puts Your Ideas on Glass

• Imports DXF print data and prepares them for the printing process
• CAD design module for creating print data
• Internal raster image process
• Creates dynamic print data (serial numbers, QR codes)

External Ink Delivery System

As an option, the system can be equipped with an external ink delivery system to automatically refill the print head. It can be set up for one or two inks to allow effective color changes with minimal downtime.

Inline or Standalone Operation

Standardized interfaces are provided for easy integration into existing lines or for use as a standalone system.

  • CANopen slave
  • EtherCAT bridge
  • EtherNet/IP slave
  • PROFIBUS DP slave
  • PROFINET RT slave

LPKF NovaPrint: The Benefits of Our Digital Glass Printer

Flexibility
  • Optimum handling of small batch sizes and any number of design variations
  • Efficient prototyping
  • No setup times and no need to store large screens

Productivity
  • Cost-effective production due to low personnel costs
  • No setup times
  • No costs for storing screens
Competitiveness
  • Improved competitiveness thanks to fast response to new requirements
  • Flexible and fast technology
  • New designs can be implemented quickly
  • Special projects easily realized at any time

Digital
  • Traceability from glass to glass with original certified inks
  • Characteristics such as serial numbers or QR codes can be modified and printed simply via a mouse click

Precision Printing (Wet-on-Dry)
  • Multiple printing passes with no prior drying and thus layer thickness buildup in specific areas are possible
  • Can print defroster on rear windshields of cars
  • A base printing pass using black ink ensures the silver paste does not appear yellow on the glass. A fine black line with a width of about 150 microns is printed and dried, and then a finer silver line is printed on top of the black line.

Certified Inks
  • Printing with original screen-printing pastes with the LPKF NovaPrint avoids complex qualification measures
  • LTP retains the properties of the fired pastes and inks

Comparison of Laser Transfer Printing vs Screen Printing

Laser Transfer Printing significantly reduces the number of process steps required and therefore also lowers costs.
The elaborate and cost-intensive installation of new screens is a thing of the past. There is no longer any need to clean, reorder or store screens.
