LPKF SolarQuipment – A Success Story
After receiving their first customer requests in 2006, LPKF started to develop a basic laser scriber concept. In the years following, the thin film business grew along with the general boom in photovoltaics. LPKF supplied laser scribing systems to all three major thin film technologies, CdTe, CIGS and aSi/µSi. Despite the consolidation in the PV market, LPKF successfully acquired a very large order for thin film scribing equipment in 2011. Since then the company has further developed, produced, and successfully commissioned more than 100 laser scribers worldwide.
With many years of experience as a manufacturer of laser systems and in processing glass, in 2018, LPKF decided to extend its product range further and enter a new market. At the beginning of this year, LPKF launched its first printer, the LPKF NovaPrint, which has been developed for printing on transportation glass. This segment includes conventional cars (aftermarket replacement glass), buses, trains, airplanes and ships.
The design of the new LPKF NovaPrint draws on LPKF’s experience in fast, high-precision processing of glass-based thin film solar modules.
